Microsoft Social Engagement will be discontinued on January 16, 2020 for all Dynamics 365 customers. Microsoft Social Engagement was developed to centrally control and evaluate the different accounts on the different social media channels. The solution should give sales and marketing teams new opportunities to generate leads or evaluate marketing activities.
Microsoft justified its decision by citing more AI-supported social and web insights in the future, rather than just "social listening" capabilities. Most of the features will find a new home in Dynamics 365 Market Insights in the future. So far, we haven't had the opportunity to explore Dynamics 365 Market Insights more closely. However, Microsoft provides a preview environment for interested customers.
The availability of Social Engagement ends with the expiration of the license subscription or finally on January 16, 2020.
