Office 365 rebranding to Microsoft 365
What does it mean for Office 365 users?

Microsoft made a brave move and decided to rebrand their most powerful brand Office 365 into Microsoft 365. One of the ideas behind is to make it easier for end customers, companies, schools and even families to access the variety of Microsoft’s AI driven solutions that strive to save our time.

To start with an explanation, Microsoft 365 has been on the market since the summer of 2017 and provided a software and services for organizations, consisting of Office 365, Windows 10 and Enterprise Mobility. It has been only for commercial customers like businesses, educational institutions, governmental institutions or enterprises.

Office Suit, on the other hand, on the market since 2001, is the most popular productivity suite delivered by Microsoft. Office 365 is a cloud-based, subscription model version that includes applications like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, OneNote, and depending on the subscription we chose, may also include other apps and services such as OneDrive, SharePoint, Planner, Project, Yammer, and Microsoft Teams.

On 21st of April 2020 Office 365 will automatically convert to the new Microsoft 365 bundle of software and services. From then on, Microsoft 365 will not only be available to the business unit, but also to families and individuals. All that to make the most of your time.

Can we expect new functionalities? Yes.

What we gain with new Microsoft 365 Business Premium is not only a bundle of well-known Windows 10 software, Office 365 apps and services, but also new components aiming to improve out work life balance, tighten  remote relations and help us find more time withing activities that we have to do.

Microsoft Editor will be introduced as one of new AI driven tools withing Word or Outlook, available in more than 20 languages improving and adjusting our writing upon the situations. The transition comes also with highlighting the Presenter Coach functionalities within Power Point or Money in Excel. There will be also a great improvement of Edge browser with a new Password Monitor that will inform you on any data leak.

But what seems to be the most striking is the Microsoft’s offering to the individual and family users. Microsoft Family Safety app is designed to let families feel more connected. It allows to share family members’ location, manage screen time across multiple devices, or to generate notifications when a family member leaves a certain location.

On top of that there is also already well-known communicator Microsoft Teams, but this time also for non-business consumers. Stay in touch with your closest one, work, create and share.
